This premium quality 100% pure Ashford Corridale wool roving from New Zealand will be one of your favorites. Carded Ashford Corriedale wool is great for beginning spinners since it is easy to draft and spin.
This soft wool roving has lots of loft so your yarn will be soft and fluffy. Ashford Wool Roving has a good length and is free from breaks. Grown on sheep farms in the South Island of New Zealand where sheep graze on large grassy paddocks.
The Corriedale wool is washed using an ecofriendly bio-degradable detergent. The wool is then processed in Ashfords own woolen mill in Milton. It is carded, dried and finally wound into bumps. Choose from a Light Grey that is a bit variegated, medium Grey Natural White or Dark Brown. White/Natural Corriedale sliver is also great for dyeing. New Zealand.
Combing wool is a slightly different way of preparing fibers for spinning then carding.
During the combing process the shorter fibers, noils, second cuts etc. are removed, leaving the remaining long fibers ready to spin.
This is called a wool top and when spun makes an even yarn, that will pill less, can withstand lots of wear and has a great stitch definition. Sometimes it is also referred to as roving, although technically it is not.
