The Louet David III loom features a beater, with a hinge point close to the floor, the result is smooth movement and a favorable pivot radius to strike the fell line.
The warp beam and the cloth beam of the Louet David III have a larger diameter than before. This requires fewer revolutions to wind your warp beam and therefore less tension discrepancies in the warp threads. The sectional warp kit (optional) now has space for 4 bars that attach to the warp beam, instead of 3. This improves assembly and function.
Louet has added a new cloth beam advance lever to the David III. It has a magnet that holds the pawl in the ratchet wheel, allowing you to advance more fabric with one movement of the handle.
The Louet David III loom uses an ingenious but simple to understand system of springs and pulleys, which produces a generous wide shed with remarkably light treadling, due to a pull system that "assists" the weaver when treadling.
The Louet David III floor loom has a built-in raddle with two wooden raddle covers that you can slide over the raddle. These are useful for inserting the warp threads into the raddle and then they close the raddle when winding on your warp. (super easy to use for back to front warping) and a tool shelf on top of the castle, perfect for shuttles, bobbins etc.
The Louet David III comes standard with eight harnesses and ten treadles. The tie-up is made to the metal parallel lams, which can be tied either singly or in combinations, allowing for unbalanced weaves not possible on the usual kind of sinking shed loom.
The Louet David III loom is made of lacquered beech and the castle is partial assembled, the rest is easy to put together, following step by step instructions. The Louet David comes complete with 800 “Texsolve” heddles, a stainless steel 10 dent reed, 2 lease sticks and 16 warp sticks, plus instructions.

Second back beams are sometimes also called double back beams or warp beams. They are useful when weaving with yarns that have different fiber content or require different amounts of tension. Examples are seersucker, pique or supplementary warps.
